Eat India Company is a fictional resto-bar.
A branding exercise inspired by the colonial British era in India.
The Britishers search for spices and trade routes which landed them in India was instrumental in introducing Western culture, giving the traditional Indian life a jolt and galvanising the traditions of its people. It was a turning point in the narrative of our food history which is what Eat India Company represents.
The British staples, diet and eating etiquette were all absorbed and imitated by Indians, resulting in an everlasting imperial legacy on our contemporary diets. This inspired the nomenclature for the menu design with dishes like The Salad Act of 1733, Melons the Wright Way, The Spice trade salad, divide and rule dips, etc.
The purpose of this design experiment was to create an elegant and tasteful visual language to reflect the strong colonial flavour with a little Indian accent.
